In this tutorial I will show you how to quickly create a quality 468 x 60 pixel banner for your next advertising campaign with just a few simple tools.

Start with a new document make your canvas size 468 x 60 pixels with a transparent background

Now we insert our picture that we will use in our banner. I use the “Ctrl C” method for this

this is the image I’m using for this banner, you can use it to our choose a design of your own.

Now with the image we will move it around the canvas until we are happy with the positioning.

This is how I have position my image:

Now even though the image could be used as it is now I think we could make it look allot better by adding a few more layers to it.

Create a new layer on top of the image. And select the rectangular marquee tool with a fixed width of 468 x 50 pixels. and center the selection in the middle of your banner like the image below.

Now select the paint bucket tool with the color white selected and fill in the selection.

With your white layer now selected. Lower the opacity to around 37% or until it looks good over your picture.

This white layer will be later used as a canvas for your banner text.

Now we want to add a Stroke layer style to our white layer giving it a nice border I’m just using black for this.

Now that we have a nice background we can add our text to it.

Below is my finished result once I have added the text I want.

You use this simple method to create any sised banners and buttons for your link back images and advertising campaigns.

By using the Hue/Saturation you can also modify your banner for different color version to suite any design changers to your advertising. Below are a couple of hue modifications I have done to the banner above.
