In this tutorial I will show you how easy it is to create text that looks like ice with a few simple layer styles.

Lest start by creating a new document for this tutorial I’m using 500 x 500 pixels but you can use any size that suites you.

For the purpose of this tutorial I will be using the background below, feel free to use it for yourself.

Now we will choose the text tool with the text color white, and type in our words we want to use and choose the desired font and font size . The font I’m using is called Ice text font (chiller) (94.19 KB) With the font size set to 72pt bold.

Now that we have our basic font layer it doesn’t look to appealing at the moment so next we will start adding the layer styles. Select the text layer and go to Layer > Layer Styles > Inner Glow and copy the settings below.

Next step is to add the Bevel and Emboss go to Layer > Layer Styles > Bevel and Emboss and follow the setting below.

Now we need to add a satin layer go to Layer > Layer Styles > Satin and follow the settings below.

Next we need to add the color go to Layer > Layer Styles > Color Overlay and follow the settings below.

For the Final Step we need to add the stroke. Go to Layer > Layer Styles > Stroke and follow the settings below.

And that’s it. It’s quite simple how a few layer styles can change your text to make it look like Ice. I have added a few more layers to my text and here is the final image.
